Build An Ant Empire beginner guide
The short version. Start by redeeming the free codes, then work through this.
1. Your first ten minutes
Follow the tutorial: mine food blocks underground, bring them up and feed the Ant Queen. The Queen then offers ant rolls — your first workers will be Common and Rare, and that is fine. Place every worker you get so food production starts, fill the empty slots cheaply, and only then start saving Cash for better rolls.
2. How Ant Queen rolls work
Rolling at the Queen generates offers; you still pay Cash to buy the ant you pick, so never roll with an empty wallet. Two upgrade lines matter: Egg Luck improves the quality of offers, Egg Rolls increases how many offers you see at once. Upgrading the Queen itself unlocks higher egg tiers — that is the gate between you and Mythic, Exotic, Divine, OP and Celestial ants.
3. Food, Cash and when to sell
Workers carry food, food sells for Cash, Cash buys rolls and upgrades. Selling at the right multiplier matters more than most beginners expect — a Fixed Price offer or the Food Buyer can beat the default rate, so compare before you dump a full stockpile. Keep a Cash buffer at all times: the Queen can show a rare ant on any roll, and the offer is lost if you cannot pay.
4. Mutations: separate from rarity
A mutation multiplies an ant's efficiency (EFF) on top of its rarity and level. Starlight is the big one at about 5x EFF. Others come from events and rewards: Candy from the Candy Rain event, Leaf from Leaf Mutation Potions and the Vine event, Bubblegum as an Index reward. Mutation Potions apply to one ant, so spend them on workers you plan to keep — a mutated lower-rarity ant can out-earn a fresh higher-rarity roll.
5. Levels, speed and the Index
Level upgrades raise an ant's EFF and carrying capacity, and an upgraded mid-rarity worker often beats an unleveled rare one — compare real output before replacing anything. Jelly and Ant Speed upgrades cut travel time, which raises real income per minute. Collected ants also fill your Index, which pays out rewards at milestones, so even duplicate rolls are not wasted.
6. Pets and the Dungeon
When the 'Dungeon has appeared' notification shows up, run it: the Dungeon pays Pet Coins, Pet Coins buy Pet Eggs, and hatched pets equip for bonuses like increased Ant Speed. Pets are a separate system from worker ants and mounts — build your main economy first, then chase pet progression on the side.
