Mutations
Mutations multiply an ant's efficiency (EFF) on top of its rarity and level. Here is what each one does, where it comes from, and how potions work.
How mutations work
Ants can spawn with a mutation, which adds an extra effect and an efficiency multiplier on top of the ant's rarity and level. Two ants of the same rarity are not equal if one rolled a mutation - mutated ants are usually the ones worth keeping. Mutations also count toward your Index.
Mutation potions
The item shop sells potions that apply a mutation to one ant of your choice. Because you pick the target, a potion is wasted on a weak early ant; save the good ones for workers you plan to keep. Potions are expensive, so colony upgrades usually come first.
Mutations and the Index
Discovering ants and mutations fills Index milestones, and those rewards can only be claimed once. Collector value is real: a duplicate roll can still move the Index along, and Index rewards include a Bubblegum mutation.
